Greencard aka Permanent Resident
Category Thank you
Just over a week ago, I finally received my Permanent Residency for the US. Those of you that know me, read the blog etc. know that every year or so I had faced a renewal process for my visa that could be approved or declined. I personally believe that people should have a right to live and work wherever they want in the world, rather than being restricted by false barriers created by different clans, religions, war winners or whatever over time, so always found the process very tedious.
Anyway, this is not US citizenship and as I have always maintained, I have no current plans to become one (unless the US win the World Cup, that right alter my stance, but unlikely) It just means I am no longer restricted in who I work for, I can enter and leave the country without appointments at the US embassy and generally makes my life much easier. As crazy as it sounds, now I have it, I almost feel like moving to another country just to say thanks for the offer, decided to move on Hhhmm, do I have relatives in Australia?
So I wanted to make a big thank you to the folks who wrote various reference letters over the years for me, they were much appreciated and I hope you all realise that. I definitely owe you a few beers.

... but if you move on, don't forget to give the greencard back. Otherwise the IRS will be after you for the rest of your life.
