So here is the small bit of information I promised yesterday...

but before I say anything, I want to thank everybody for their support. I am a little overwhelmed to be honest, more comments on that entry than any other in about a year. Perhaps I should preface other posting with Notes Sucks to get comments? Anyway, I do appreciate the support and advice, it is all appreciated. Oh and to shut my niece up, it is my birthday today and I am 37, I have not been hiding the fact, and many of you have sent me very nice greetings already.
So that small bit of information I promised yesterday, well my folks are on holiday at the moment, so I have time to get a few more postings in so there's a chance I can avoid them ever reading this, but my starting weight is (and never to be seen again) 27 stone 6 pounds, which in American terms is 384lbs and in European terms is 174.17Kgs. Which means I have a pretty incredible BMI. Anyway, it's no longer a secret and anyone that wants to know, now knows where I'm starting.
I haven't decided on my first real target, but it probably relates to seeing my sister on her 40th birthday in December, so I need to come up with a nice relaist goal for then, I will think of something. My long term goals are things that most other people will take for granted

- I'd like to be able to buy a shirt from a airport shirt and sock shop. I have never had the need to do this, but I figure that with all the travel I do, one day it may be necessary
- Someone gave me a timberland fleece waistcoat as a gift a little while back, I'd like to fit into that
- I had a tailored suit made for me Korea once, I should fit back into that

In answer to your statement of being overwhelmed by the amount of responses, if anyone was like me, then they would simply have been blown away by the sheer honesty and guts required (of which you have plenty - you can decide in what sense intended!) to post that entry. Frankly I really don't know if I could ever have been that brave so, I for one take my (top) hat off to you for doing it. I don't think there is one person on your blog who doesn't identify with the frustration of weight problems and didn't groan inwardly whilst reading it and thinking " Yep, been there, done that, fitted into the T-shirt, grew fat and out of it again"......
Also your blog has inspired and shamed more of us to follow your lead and I for one am now sitting here with a pint glass of water, trying not to think of all the lovely, unhealthy processed biscuits/crisps/chocolate that I ate at our sales prospecting day yesterday........and vowing to start again today.
So on to the BIG QUESTION: you want public
naggingsupport to help keep you going eh???? (BOY, have you ever come to the right place ) SO WHEN WILL WE GET OUR WEEKLY UPDATES? Mondays? Tuesdays? I think you should go for Mondays because then, if you're tempted to bomb out over the weekend, you will be forced to remember that you need to weigh in and give us an update on Mondays...... how does that sound and should we kick off on Monday Nov 6 to give you time to get started? DEAL??? (As you can see, you've got me back reading this blog with a vengeance now!)Everyone knows that you can and will do it - but do it in your own time (not a race and doesn't matter how long or short it takes as long as you get there) and for YOU, not anyone else. All the cheering you can hear is the unofficial European Chunky Monkey Champions rooting for you.
Hasta Luego!!
PS What is Mountain Dew btw? Is the diet version as vile as Coke Zero?
PPS If you think your parents - mother in particular! - won't read or pick up on this, then I'm a supermodel My money is on her being in an Internet cafe right now composing a response.... and she'll be as proud as Punch of you, as we are.

Well, first off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY (a day late, but sincere wish nonetheless).
And gosh, you have my utmost admiration for publicly posting about your reduction campaign. I've considered that in the past, but have been a bit of a coward. As for positive steps, after doing 'some' exercise each day for some months and taking some supplements, my most recent tests showed cholesterol still too high. And i know that I still need to get my BMI in better range. So about a week ago I started doing 3 miles a day on the treadmill. No other changes, and a couple of pounds have sloughed off. It's pretty easy to just put on the headphones and listen to a podcast and start walking ...and/or running ...I just ensure that I get in 3 miles in one session. If I do more exercise in the day (weight lifting, working in the yard, miscellaneous movement), that's great, but it seems that a prolonged session makes a big difference. At least that seems to work for me, after this extremely long sampling of a week's time :)
Looking forward to your posts ...I doubt you realize how many people you are inspiring ...and to what degree. Quite literally, your posting will no doubt result in many lives being longer and of higher quality, including yours.
Cheers!

I wish you the greatest Good Luck with the quest you are about to commence. Treat it like a crusade - don't let any disruptions stop you seeing it through. Remember it's a marathon not a sprint.
I find this site useful for graphing my weight battle and you get to post the graphs on your site -> www.bellygraph.com
Stay strong and eat sensibly,
Chris
