Where's Lotus Mashups?

Category

No one seams to have mentioned it since Lotusphere, and the IBM page for Lotus Mashups has gone.  Searching ibm.com for lotus mashups also returns other pages that fail.

I have to admit, when I was asked about Mashups at Lotusphere by an IBMer I did say something disparaging like "Who cares and it will probably be gone in a year", ah yes forever one to hold his tongue.

What did everyone else think of Mashups?  I felt like it was a product squeezed into the Lotusphere Opening Session but didn't really fit.

Gravatar Image1 - It struck me as a technology, not a product. Which means we should see it surface inside other products & brands.

Gravatar Image2 - Not sure what you mean, as the Lotus Mashups link in your blog appears to work fine for me(?).

Gravatar Image3 - Hi -- The Lotus Mashups page works for me too. Maybe it was just a short-term glitch.
I think the application is pretty cool actually. It's got so much potential for providing real, just-in-time data to me. I'm interesting in seeing where it's going.

Gravatar Image4 - @2, @3 OK they read my blog and must have fixed the links Emoticon

@1 Yeah that was my feeling, why was this a standalone product, should just be part of something else.

Gravatar Image5 - I appreciate your honest opinion here (free speech rules Emoticon ). Lucky for me- as the product owner- customers don't share the same opinion as you (phew). We actually have a ton of interest from companies- many of them quite well known. Since Lotusphere, there have not been any ideal events for us to make additional product announcements.. but look for us at Ajaxworld, WebSphere Impact in April, Web 2.0 conf in April, Enterprise 2.0. in June, etc. etc.

Gravatar Image6 - @5 Hi Nicole, good to hear!

Many thanks for taking the time to comment.

Gravatar Image7 - There is a stable history here with QEDWiki. It slots in nicely with several of our customers for widget/gadget creation. Lots of intrigue still left - but its a compelling case to present to customers and it fits a hole in the dev space with widgets/Domino Designer/Quickr/Portlet Factory/Sametime . Key to me is how these other products support it. Again - judging by how well widgets work in Notes 801, it's going to be GREAT!

Gravatar Image8 - Carl .. it kicks MS PopFly or Adobe AIR into the long grass (IMHO) .. but I would say that!
@7: agreed .. and don't forget Lotus Component Designer! Wdiget are great and the sooner we get to user-generated mash-ups with no need to understand WSDL, C2A, portlet wiring or web services, the better!
