21 Years of Lotus and still going strong
Category UKLUG Session
Yep, that's the title of the session I will be presenting next week at UKLUG
Not my usual Sametime session, and actually very little Sametime (if any). When I submitted my session I got my sums a little wrong, it should really be 23 years, and is basically a session of covering a kind of museum of Lotus products that I have come across in my years, with anecdotes of personal experiences that in my head are tied to these products. At Lotus there was a Dead Products society, that each Halloween would have people that were once Product Managers of long dead products demonstrate them, I used to find them really interesting. You can kind of think of this session as a speedy version of that, with me demoing most of them. Oh and don't worry, it won't be only dead products, there will be demos of some old versions of existing products too.
So if you're at UKLUG, be sure to come and watch my session, or not, I'll be doing it either way

Comments
Improv - A spreadsheet that is still ahead of its time
NotesSuite - The combination of Notes 3.0 & SmartSuite. I used to demo building a spreadsheet in 1-2-3, generating crosstabs of that data in Approach and then pulling the data into Notes with FX. I think I could still do that one I did it so many times and in so many cities.
ScreenCam - A product that was beloved by anyone who used it
Components - Still love the idea of having small productivity objects that I can drop into an email or other document.
Organizer - Loved the literal day planner visual metaphor (did not love setting it up for group use)
Waaaahhh all this nostalgia is making me tear up. Now I'm going to be morose for the rest of the day.
