Anyone getting confused by IBMs use of the word widget?
Category IBM widgets
It appears to me, if IBM comes up with that can be embedded in something else, they call it a widget. Now you could argue that's fair enough but it's confusing as hell for customers and users who are looking for "widgets". Are widgets for one app usable as a widget in another app? Are IBMs widgets standards based? When Notes users see an IBM article that says "New widget that does X" they think Notes Widgets.
Examples of where IBM has widgets (all different)
Widget Gallery - the Dojo Toolkit one.
W3C Widget Configuration and packaging - An emerging standard
Symphony Widgets
Widgets in Lotus Mashups
Websphere Widgets
There are a lot more, to see just search IBM.com for widgets
Don't forget if you want a Notes Widget, you can get them from here www.noteswidgets.com
