Did apple designers use the iPhone?
Category None
As I use the iPhone I have to wonder if their designers actually used it in their day to day lifes? This weeks pain point is the option snooze a meeting reminder. Most phones, PDAs, devices that have calendars etc. have a snooze option for meeting reminders. Not the iPhone, nope, no snooze option on meeting reminders that popup, why not?
I thought that with all the applications out there, there must have been someone that has developed an alternative front end or something for the calendar. It turns out that isn't possible with the iPhone unless it's jail broken, as apple haven't exposed the Calendar interfaces in the SDK. I'm not sure how that makes any sense really? Mind you apple has never made any claims to be open.
Is the iPhone the emporer's new clothes? Every one says it's great, and when you get one people start to go, oh yeah I know what you mean that sucks. Someone said to me the iPhone is an iPod with a phone. To be honest I really don't care about the iPod as I already have one, so maybe this isn't the phone for me.

If meeting reminder behaviour is enough to put you off the iPhone, geeze! Hard to please much? What about the hundred other things it does better than any other mobile device out there?
The iPhone is world changer...

And, about iPhone, well, here in Brazil there are lots of sites comparing devices and softwares, feature by feature...and, iPhone (iPod also) is not the best choice for many reasons. Their competitors get better scores for usability, features, etc... iPhone only really beat them at popularity and design. BTW, it is too expensive around here also.

Totally agree the iPhone was a game changer, it has made the other phone vendors wake up.
Meeting reminders enough to put me off, well if it means I forgot that million dollar contract call then it wouldn't be good.
As I said in my previous post, there are some things I really like about the phone, and other things I really disike about the phone. It's performing a fine balancing act right now.
I just think it's missing some basics, that I cant believe haven't driven others a little crazy.
@5 Me complain? No never, I just like to see things improve

A quick Google shows that this is also a big issue with many other useres, so very much hoping Apple is reading those posts.
And as for the fanboys in the thread: do you really have to react to every criticism of the iPhone by treating the writer like a heretic?! Yes, everybody knows it's a great platform, but even the best can be improved!
