1 - hmm, I just checked, no extra pixels here on my Firefox. Interesting.

2 - I don't see it on my FireFox screen.... hmmm

3 - This sucks, I don't get any extra pixels in my copy of FF, and I know I paid JUST AS MUCH as the rest of you!

4 - I see this also, but only on some sites. For example, the text entry fields to post this comment: no extra pixels. The search box on wikipedia.com: extra pixels.

Have seen it on other sites as well, just don't recall where. Sometimes, it even shows when in the Firefox address bar.

5 - I heard that Firefox puts those on as an indication of the number of porn sites you're visiting.

I'm just saying.

6 - I found out - Mac OS indicates the DIRECTION of text - in your screen shot that is left to right. If you enable the arabic text input (via international system preference) the small horizontal bar on the caret changes to the other side.

Apparently FF only display that kind of caret only if the css use the direction:ltr|rtl option. It looks to me that you can enable this behavior in every text field (even in the one I am typing right now) if you switch the keyboard to hebrew or arabic and then back.

7 - by the way, you can switch it off in FF:
type in about:config in the URL
go (or filter to) bidi.support and change the value of "1" to "0"

you will loose the ability to type arabic and hebrew in the right direction, of cause

8 - I noticed that on your Mac (before I dropped it I hasten to add) but haven't seen it before on any other machines
