My folks have been visiting again, which means I've been working with my Dad on various DIY projects around the house. The biggest for a few months now has been putting siding on the front of the house. I've actually had help from more people than just my Dad, in face numerous visitors this year have played a part, not just my Dad. There have been friends of my parents, my sister and her husband, my nephew, a friend from Boston, it's been a real family and friends effort. We're now 98% done, with about 2 feet remaining. It's amazing really how it can totally change the character of the place. Here's a transition photo from before to now.
If you ever fancy doing a project like this yourself, don't be scared, putting up the siding actually isn't very difficult, if you can do Lego, you could probably side your house. The right tools definitely help, a good pair of tin snips, and good ladders, and if you can get a cherry picker, this will save your hours of trips up and down the ladder and is much safer.
