US Vice President Candidate Debate

Last night in the US, they had the US Vice Presidentail Debate.  As far as I could tell it was basically a load of bollocks.    The moderator might as well have been replaced by a big screen with the questions, as it turns out the questions were irrelevant as the candidates pretty much didn't answer them, and just like a big screen the moderator didn't follow up with "hhm, would you like to actually answer the question?". Would love to see Jeremy Paxman as the moderator for a US Presidential debate, that would make for fascinating TV.

Why do politicians treat the public like children?  Are people really this dumb?

Gravatar Image2 - I could not agree more - so many times the moderator asked "would you like to answer the question or move to the next question?" yuck. Politicians treat "the people" like children because we let them. I much prefer "I'm going to keep asking the same question until you answer it. I don't care if this entire debate only covers one question. you WILL answer or we WON'T move on." It would be pretty quick for one of the debaters to answer the actual question and put the other on the defensive. But no, they keep being let off the hook. Paxman would indeed be fun to watch but it would never happen. The media lacks the backbone.
