A few days ago I blogged about Openfire. A couple of days ago IBM published a developer works article on creating an AJAX based IM Clientfor it.
An interesting read, as it explains how to install the server etc. in the process. We've behind some work recently for a customer with the SMACK API, and jabber is definitely an interesting platform for many organizations.
