I plan to boycott the Olympics in my own little way
Category None
This summer I intend not to watch the Olympics. I do believe that athletes should not be forced to boycott the Olympics, these folks have a very small window of their life to be the best at what they do and should be allowed to compete. I support the spirit of the Olympics and preferred them when the athletes had to be amateurs, I do not support the constant looking the other way when bad things happen in the host country.
I do not believe that companies who are sponsoring the Olympics should have my support and eyeballs for an event taking place in a country that has very poor human rights. Now if the corporate sponsors were to take their money and sponsor ads educating people as to what is going on in China then I would have a lot more respect for them. I would love to boycott Chinese products but it's just not possible, so many items are made from components from around the world and it's hard to tell as a consumer where any of it comes from.
Sadly the administration of many governments can't object as the risk of upsetting China is too great, and they currently depend on Chinese money for keeping the Iraq war going and bailing out Wall Street.
So in my own little way I am going to sacrifice watching women's swimming, women's rowing and Women's volleyball this summer. There is an upside to this, I won't have to suffer Bob Costas who as I said a few years ago is someone I really dislike. Oh my God, I just realized, IBM got Bob Costas for Lotusphere because of the bad things I said about them.
So if you want, please feel free to join me and not watch the Olympics this summer.

@3, I am not American, I do not vote in American elections, I cannot be held responsible for the actions of the American government.
