I decided to try seeing a customer a different way today.

Sure I could have done a Sametime Meeting, a WebEx Meeting a Live Meeting or a Sametime Unyte Meeting, but how do I log flying time doing that? I decided that Friday traffic into Boston was worth missing, so I rented a little plane and flew in today. It was nice buzzing over the stationary traffic on Route 495 and Route 3, to be first in-line for runway 29. This is much more expensive than driving into Boston, but this gets some hours in for this month and gives my flight a purpose.
I rented a different warrior to the usual one I take, N4511R is older (1965) than the one I usually take and has a lot less horse power, it also has some other key differences such as not having toe breaks, just the regular hand brake and doesn't have a trim wheel, but a handle in the roof that you wind back and forth. It was a fun flight, even if a little hazy and it's always fun to taxi up and park next to all the expensive Learjets. Now I have the flight back to look forward to.

The plane is going to take me about 1.5 hours total flying time (versus 4 hours for the car) so approx $150 dollars, plus plane parking, $13, so about $163 total, however, if the haze has cleared up, I will probably buzz my house a few times on the way back, which means I will do 2 hours, so about $213 total.
It could be argued if I take my hourly rate, that the extra two hours of available work time more than covered the extra cost of flying. I like that justification, I might use that again sometime. I wonder if the flight can be expensed?
But it's so much fun, and I never think about Domino, Sametime or Notes the whole time I'm flying so cost tends not to be thought of too much.
