Stop whining about the petrol prices...

I'm sorry but I'm sick of hearing people over here whine about the petrol/gas price ( http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070516/ap_on_bi_ge/gas_demand ).

I view it like this, we are at war, I personally have been asked to sacrifice nothing whilst others have been asked to sacrifice everything. If paying higher petrol prices is the only sacrifice I have to make then so be it, I've often thought we should have a $1 war tax on petrol here, that way people may have paid a little more attention to the war, it's justification and how it's going or not going, and maybe people would get a little more involved. Just for comparison, my local petrol station is $2.92 a gallon (US), a gallon (US) of petrol in the UK is about $7.26.

OK I am stepping down from my soapboax, nothing more to see here, move along now...

I'm actually waiting for some of that Iraqi oil. When will those hacks in DC finally just get that oil over here. I mean, that's what the war was all about anyway, right?

Even sadder is the realization that regardless of current gas prices or when we leave Iraq, we (Americans) will be paying for this war for decades to come thanks to all the broken soldiers who didn't quite sacrifice everything. If I could put your $1 war tax toward anything it would be *proper* treatment and care of those suffering both physically AND psychologically from their war experience.

With all the "Support the Troops" nonsense out there, it's time we put our money where our mouth is, or we'll have a whole new generation of homeless.

Jan 21, 2009 can't come soon enough.

Gravatar Image5 - I would not complain if the price of gas were the result of the military actions, the result of a military tax (especially if it were able to be tracked to the troups). BUT (and this is a big BUT) The price of gas at the pump is going into the very fat pockets of the petroleum companies. It was interesting to hear on the new this evening that crude is $7 a barrel less than a year ago and pump prices are $.50 a gallon more.
