I went to bed with 2 inches and woke up with 10!

10 inches of snow that is. We also woke up without power, and as you may have noticed all the Instant servers were down also. Turns out comcast had a major outage in the Durham area that took them a good 5 hours to fix. It was most likely downed telephone poles somewhere, there were a lot of them. The interesting thing about my new house, is that I need a Wireless Cell Extender for my cell to work, so without power I have no cell phone, No VoIP phone, no power, no heat, no hot water, no well water. I can see this living in the middle of nowhere thing could get very interesting.

I've had friends who swear by a backup generator. I use to think it was a sign of the "off the grid" sect but with my [some day] move to the farm, I can see the need.
