Microsoft has made available the Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access AJAX Service SDK 1.0. For Sametime folks you can can kind of think of this as Sameitme Links wihtout the UI and JAVA applet. It communicates with the LCS server through AJAX on the webpage, and lets you build your own UIs etc. from those APIs. This should mean that it makes it much easier for people to build clients for LCS that are not Windows based or require ActiveX components etc. which is different to what was possible before.
