Back from Hawaii and preparing for Lotusphere
Category None
I got back nice and safe from Hawaii last week. Sadly I basically didn't have any time while I was there to see or do anything. So I will have to go again sometime. Lotusphere preparations are underway and I've been busy testing my demos, so far all looks good. I had a funny phone call from Bruce this morning, asking why I hadn't started ragging on Lotusphere yet. I don't think I rag on Lotusphere unless I have to, believe me if I need to bitch about it I will. To be honest I think this years Lotusphere will be pretty good. There seems to be less emphasis and push on Workplace which in my opinion is a good thing, and more focus on the products that people are buying and using.
I'm very excited that everyone is going to see the new look Sametime Client. It's been a long time coming, and I can assure everyone it does not follow the previous "innovations" between releases. Obviously when it is released I will still have a list of things they could do better, but Sametime 7.5 is going to be a big step forward. A step I am very relieved they decided they needed to take.
I'm also looking forward to catching up with some old friends and colleagues I haven't seen in a while. I know a few people from the UK will be there, so it's always nice to catch up with people that share my dry sarcastic sense of humour.
Something I am thinking of doing, but not sure if anyone would really be interested. I have a load and I mean a load of old Lotus T shirts and such, that I think it's time to throw out. Most of it was worn at one show at most and has been kept for nostaligia reason, but I am pretty much never likely to ever wear the stuff ever again. Everything is XL or bigger, so I was thinking maybe I'd bring it all along to Lotusphere, if someone wants something they give me a donation which I pass on to a needy charity (not me). Hmm, perhaps we could just have a meeting time and location where any Loti, or ex Loti with shirts and stuff they no longer want, comes along and provides old Lotus gear that people can have in return for a donation? I also have other stuff I could throw in, such as a cc:Mail 15 Million Users Radio, eSuite toolkit, Notes R5 Martini glasses, maybe a limited edition 1 of 10 Notes R5 Launch team hawaiian shirt? Anyway it's an idea I'm thinking about, do other people really want this stuff?
