Red Hat Enterprise Linux and IBM Workplace Services Express
Category None
You can download the Red Hat Enterprise Linux and IBM Workplace Services Express to use with VMWare, it's a great way to try out Workplace without spending hours configuring LDAP servers etc.
So with some new hardware in hand, I decided I'd give it a shot. My experience so far has been tedious, Be prepare for a long download, it is 3 1gb files after all. Then after downloading you combine the 3 files into one big Tar file witha simple DOS copy command, no problem all good so far. Then once you have a huge 3 gb tar file, you untar that one to get an 11gb tar file. Then when I try and uncompress this one I have no joy, I have tried GnuTar, winzip-7-zip, in other words lots of decompression tools and they all fail uncompressing the 11gb file. So thinking that perhaps my download was screwed up, I download the 3 1gb files again. Checked the checksums against those posted and they look good, so I try to uncompress again, still no joy.
So up to now I have not managed to get this going, I'll post a note to the support forum, but if anyone else has tried this and succeeded please let me know the secret...
