A few suggestions for the Palm Treo 650
Category None
So I've had the Palm Treo 650 for about 7 days now, and I have to say overall I like it. There a few strange things about the device that relate to it being a palm device and a phone, some that I guess are just design decisions, and some imposed by the fact it's a Palm. For example, when you turn the device on, the phone functionality isn't turned on, so I always have to remember to turn the phone on. The other thing that bugs me is the single threaded feel to the palm, if I load up one app, I can't switch back to another one (yes no Alt Tab and I really miss it!), this makes it especially hard for Sametime, switch from Sametime on the palm to another app and you'll need to reconnect when you come back to it, products like WebMessenger help a lot in this area. The other thing that bugs me about Palm is that everything syncs with Microsoft out of the box, this is as much a failing of IBM I suppose as it is Palm, but come on, there are still some people that use Notes.
So how would I improve the Palm Treo? Well a couple of small things would make a difference to me. Sometimes you're using a combination of the mini keyboard and the stylus, what I wish they would do is put a little dimple in each key so that if you want you could press the key down easily with the stylus, I find I am forever wanting to hit the home button with the stylus, this could obviously be just me though so I'm interested to know if anyone that users a treo ever thinks the same. Second suggestion, add the scroll wheels found on the Clie, lots of times I want to scroll up and down mail and a scroll wheel would be perfect. More tweaks as I find them.

Although if I remove the battery and put it back in the device comes on but the phone function is off, I have to hold down the power button to turn the phone functionality on, which gives me the strange sensation I have two kind of devices. I can see how this makes sense though, continute to use the palm on a plane for example when the phone is off.
