Help for adding IBMers to your Sametime Connection

Category
For those people that are now using the Sametime Connect for Browsers to speak to IBMers, here is a site you may find helpful, the IBM Employee Directory. Using this you can find the email address of the IBMer you want to add.

The really nice thing about this is that I can ping and chat with old friends that still work at IBM Hursley.

Gravatar Image1 - The "external" Sametime service at the moment appears, to me at least, to be flaky. It's down as much as it's up. Or it's the nature of the implementation.
The Java client has an annoying habit of freezing when your buddy's message is being transmitted.
You can't tell if your buddy is typing.
Still, it's a novel way exposing a large internal corporate IM community and IBM should be applauded for being so open.

Gravatar Image2 - Ssshhh.... can you hear that????????

Yes, it's the sound of thousands of IBMers now desperately scrabbling to delete their name from the Employee Directory before they get bombarded with mails/messages from lovely customers and BPs to whom they "inadvertently" gave false email addresses .... a bit like spending your second year at University, trying to avoid all the 'friends' you made in your first year

Gravatar Image3 - Hi, I'm not sure if this is an acceptable place to put this (and if it isn't I'm sure it'll get deleted before it goes anywhere) but I'm looking for a picture or information about a retiree, Michael P. Feeney, who died in 2000 for his 50th class reunion this year. Does anyone know of a retiree's blog or website that might help me find one? He worked most of his early career in New York and Delaware, but spent his later years in Georgia. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Contact me at christine_isenberg@yahoo.com
