Changes to Lotusphere welcome reception attendance this year
Category None
Bruce Elgort posts an interesting change to IBM's Lotusphere this year at Orlando. This year individuals with exhibitor badges will have to pay to get entrance to the welcome reception (or the You're not welcome reception) and the Wednesday night event. This is the first time this has ever been the case at Lotusphere, and I have to admit I was very taken by surprise when I first read it and thought someone had misinformed me. I'm wondering, do the exhibitors attending IBM Partnerworld in February have to pay to join their Welcome reception and "big name" celebration? I can't imagine how someone came up with this idea, someone somewhere probably thought it was a genius idea.
I really struggle to see how this can make exhibitors feel good about sending their "team" to work their pedestal, it is after all a "team" of people that companies send to Lotusphere, and these events are "team" events, hell they're an opportunity for cross team collaboration, the very thing at the core of Lotus. What do you think? There should be enough of us without tickets that for $30 bucks each we can arrange one hell of a party ourselves.
I wonder if exhibit staff will be allowed to use the wireless and drink from the water fountains this year?
