That's the headline of a story at TechWeb, titled E-mail Threatened By Spam And IM...Or Is It?, I think IDC has this a little wrong, I don't see IM replacing E-mail, I see them complimenting each other.

What do others think, now that a number of people are using IM within Notes 6.5 how are you using it?

We've been doing it for over a year with Instant TeamMessenger, and I personally find I prefer some conversations in IM and others in e-mail. A few e-mails will kick me of on a train of thought that then results in an IM and looking at the Outlook Journal where Instant TeamMessenger archives all my IM chats, I can definitely see I have sent a great deal of IMs that otherwise would have been e-mails
