Is IBM going to dump the old Notes.net forums?

Category
I heard it a few times at Lotusphere from different development groups, "ask your questions on stackoverflow"  I've not really heard any reason given for this to be the new location of where to ask questions.  But it does make me wonder, are the Notes.net forums going to get booted and replaced by stackoverflow?  If they do, I hope it works better than the move to wikis from redbook type documentation.  I suppose hosting notes.net costs IBM money, stackoverflow wouldn't.

Gravatar Image1 - I've got my local replicas in case that happens. Like the ol Sandbox Emoticon

Gravatar Image2 - @1 Yeah, if IBM handle it like they handled the sandbox, aka just turn it off, then local replicas are key.

Gravatar Image3 - I doubt it very much.

Gravatar Image4 - I've heard some people encouraging the use of Stack Overflow more as a means of "getting the word out" about Lotus and Xpages. Trying to get Xpages some visibility outside of the "Yellow bubble". They weren't IBMers and it certainly may not be the main motivation, but there ya go.

Gravatar Image5 - It started here: { Link }

Gravatar Image6 - @5 Don't think it started there Bruce, I heard it at Lotusphere.

Gravatar Image7 - I manage the "Notes.net" forums here at IBM. We aren't planning to replace the forums with Stack Overflow. The idea to also use Stack Overflow was something the IBM XPages development team wants to do since it may be a place to reach all kinds of developers.

For the IBM forums, we have been working on a XPages redesign. Some of the newer forums, such as the one for Notes/Domino application development (a.k.a the XPages forum) are already using that design.

Gravatar Image8 - @7 Thanks for the definitive statement Craig, I really appreciate it. Just to fill this out a bit, the person I heard mentioning it at Lotusphere in their session wasn't on the Notes/XPages team.
