Anybody else getting this error installing the plug-ins?

Category

Chris Goodman is seeing this Error when adding the plug-in update site.   parsing site stream. [The XML stream is not a valid default "site.xml" file. The root tag is not site.]  I am not getting this error and have tried on a few different machines.  Searching Google pretty much indicates it's some kind of network issue, but not much more than that.  The IBM Lotus Support Database has nothing.  Anyone else seen this? Know the solution?

Gravatar Image1 - The Eclipse update manager will throw up this error when the it finds site.xml at the update site location, but the response does not contain the appropriate XML structure. In my experience it is almost always caused by some sort of proxy content filtering at the recipient's end. Ask the user to open the update site URL in a browser window and check the response.

Gravatar Image2 - @1 When I open the site in a browser, at the top I get what appears to a header of some sort with the follow text.

Gravatar Image3 - I installed the plug-in twice early this morning (before you announced it). both completed without any errors.

Gravatar Image4 - Chris, can you do view source and paste the text from the XML document that is shown in notepad here?

Gravatar Image6 - @5 OK that looks pretty much the same, what happens if you try and download one of the jar files, perhaps the firewall is stopping that?

{ Link }

Gravatar Image7 - You could also try to add the update site without "site.xml" at the end of the URL. Update manager should infer this if it is not explicitly specified.

Gravatar Image8 - It was Chris's Firewall. Probably useful if IBM made the error more meaningful. I sent Chris the DB, he ran it locally using designer preview and the site update went fine.

Gravatar Image9 - Thanks to all who tried to help out. Especially Carl for sending the file!

Gravatar Image10 - To be fair to IBM (and the Eclipse foundation), the real problem here seems to be a crappy firewall that returns a HTTP 200 status code to the Sametime update manager when something is clearly being blocked, otherwise the error *would* be more meaningful.

Gravatar Image11 - Can anyone help me in configuring the same wallaper without proxy connection means so i can deply the same to my users with policy database ?

Gravatar Image12 - @11 Rushi,

Send an email form your corporate email account (not gmail, yahoo etc.) to info@epilio.com and they will be able to sort you out with a Domino update site that you can use to deploy the plugin.

Gravatar Image13 - Hi.. this is what I did to get my plugins updated. From My Widgets at the right side bar, right click on it, and choose Get Started. Then you get a start configuring widgets page, choose this option: Features and Plugins. Then click on the next button. You will then see "Configure a widget from an update site. Enter this URL: { Link } and click on the Load button. It will then give you options of the plugins you want to update. Choose whichever you like, and then click on next button, and continue the rest.. That's all. Hope that helps.
