Sanyo 8100 Rest In Peace.

Category
My loyal and trusted Sanyo 8100 Camera phone sadly passed away yesterday. Whilst canoeing on the Lamprey river, little 8100 decided to go swimming a little too far out of it's depth. Whilst only paddling to begin with, a shift in the tides caused 8100 to go in above the waist, resulting in severe cardiac arrest. 8100 was resuscitated for a short period, to say it's good byes before the energy and water was drained from it's body to never return. I am sure 8100 would not like me to mourn for too long, so life must go on.

In other words time for a new phone! Currently my provider is Sprint and I think I'll stay with Sprint because the coverage at my house is best with them, I'm not staying with them because I like their service or bills, purely because there coverage is good where I live. So which phone to get, I looked at the Sanyo 8300 which does what I want, and my existing accessories will work happily with that model, then I saw how much it is, $299! As an existing customer Sprint will give me $75 off, are they crazy? My 2 year contract with them ends in 2 weeks, and if I'm a new customer I get $200 off, should I just wait two weeks and cancel my account, then come back as a new customer? Then another thought struck me, should I go for a phone/PDA device like the Palm 650? I could use the device as a modem on Sprint with it's Bluetooth capabilities. Plus it doesn't seem to cost much more than the Sanyo 8300.

Does anyone have any suggestions? My key requirements are a camera, speaker phone and the ability to use the phone as a modem. Does anyone know if Sprint can be negotiated with on price?

Update: I got a Treo 650. Still with Sprint, how do you get Sprint to offer deals? Tell them you want to cancel your service, you then get passed to someone that has the approval to negotiate better rates and discounts to your plan.
