Notes Doclinks in Sametime...

Category
I found this technote today whilst looking for something else, it would be great if it worked even if a little convoluted, but I cannot get it to work, anyone else have any luck?
Problem
You would like to be able to send a Notes document link, database link, view link or anchor link through Sametime, by pasting the link into the Sametime Connect client. When you create a link (by selecting Edit, Copy as Link...), the link is copied to the clipboard but you are then unable to paste the link into the Sametime Client; nothing happens when you select Edit, Paste or press Ctrl+V.

Solution
Available in release 6.5.1 of the Sametime Connect client, users can send a database link, as follows:
  1. the sender can paste a Notes database link into a Sametime chat.
  2. when the recipient receives the chat, they can highlight everything starting with <NDL> and ending with </NDL>
  3. the recipient can then hold down Ctrl+L (this will copy the link to the clipboard).
  4. the recipient can now paste the link into Notes (Ctrl + V).

This functionality is also available in the Notes Instant Messaging 6.5.x client. This functionality was not available prior to the Sametime 6.5.1 client.

I still wish they'd just let the Sametime Client handle regular Notes Doclinks with icons etc. (honestly it isn't hard)

Comments

Gravatar Image1 - Yeah, I actualy do it here. Not as nice as the special link mail message, but it does invoke the notes:// thingy ma doo hickey

Gravatar Image2 - Yes, yes, I agree! This is one feature that the Notes/ST integration is ahead of Connect on. Please backlevel it to Connect.
