If you're in the US and want to get a cheap yet good for the price multi region DVD player

Category
then head on down to BestBuy. Right now they have a cyberhome 300 for $25 bucks after a $15 rebate. Then with the following instructions, you'll have a DVD player that will work with any TV in the world, and play DVDs from anywhere in the world.

  • Switch player on and make sure there is no disc in the tray.
  • CLose tray and press menu,1,9.
  • A menu should appear with the region option at about the third line from the bottom. Press enter and select region 0.
  • Next press open/close. Put in your movie and enjoy.

  • If you've never had a problem with a DVD that was not for your region, then you've probably never travelled abroad so you don't need to worry about it. Basically region controls (which I believe are now illegal in Australia) are Hollywood's way of being able to charge twice as much for a DVD abroad as they do for the same DVD in the US. Similar to how software companies used to be until grey importing really took off and local sales reps started to mis sout on their commission. For me, I liek this solution as it means that UK DVDs which I can't get here can be played on my TV. It also means I can take my DVD player with me to France, if there's room in the case for it, which right now looks unlikely...

We're all keeping our fingers crossed that the weather is mild
today. Bethany has already started looking into booking the eurostar!

Gravatar Image2 - Hey Sis, only a few hours to go, Jessie is very excited, although she doesn't like her passport photo, mind you who does?

Would be great if Bethany came to visit, or any of you really
Weather looks good and the dog has been certified as being "aclimated" to less than 45 degrees F
