Doing something useful when travelling

Category
I have often found business trips are best when you do a few things, I like to do something productive, be sure to go and see something interesting oh and send postcards to a few select people, I hate to think how many cards my Nieces and Nephews have now of my travels. When I used to travel a great deal internationally long times were spent sitting in airplane seats. What did I do during this valuable time? Was I creating the next presentation? Coding some fancy Notes database maybe? Well to be honest, no I wasn't. You'd often find me (and don't tell anyone) doing cross-stitch. Very weird you may think, but I found that much more fulfilling than sitting on the plane with a laptop on my Belly and my arms scrunched up like a T-Rex trying to type. The nice thing is, that you end up with things for your house and great gifts for people that mean something special to you. The other nice thing is that Flight Attendants often think it's cute and give you free drinks. I always think personal gifts like that mean so much more than something purchased from a store. So here I find myself sitting in the Holiday Inn, with a chisel in one hand and a piece of wood in the other (no not that kind of wood), engraving a house sign as a wedding gift for a friend, and I ask myself, do you think the maid is going to go nuts at all the wood chips on the floor? In the picture on the right you can see I've just completed the first word!
