"Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind"

Category
I went to see this with a few friends last night, I would highly recommend it. If you like movies that loop back on themselves like Memento then you'll really like this one. A lot to like about this film, from the love story, to the whole thought about removing memories you have of people.
Charlie Kauffman (adaptation, Being John Malkovich). I'm not a huge fan of Jim Carrey as I often think he over does parts, but he was great in this, as was Kate Winslet (much better movie than Titanic).

Rating for this one is 4 stars.

The question that stuck in my head after the movie was, if you break up with somebody and could remove all trace of them from your memory, would you do it? If you want to book yourself in for an appointment at www.lacunainc.com.. Hhhm, we could remove memories of George Ws presidency...

Gravatar Image1 - Hmmm. But if you remove all memories of the other person, don't you also remove memories about yourself and things you might have learned? Don't you turn yourself into a goldfish, where it's all a whole new world every day and you're bound to make the same mistakes all over again?

Anyhow, this piece, called "The Science of Eternal Sunshine," is a pretty cool explanation of the scientific possibility of removing memories: http://slate.msn.com/id/2097502/

Gravatar Image3 - Nooo, what happens if you bump into the ex in a year's time and find yourself attracted to them all over again

Gravatar Image4 - Then it becomes the Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul (a different story entirely, but fundamentally interconnected with this one).

Gravatar Image5 - I was thinking, if we removed memories of George W, people might vote for him again! This technology should be banned!

Gravatar Image6 - Finally saw this last night. Really, really good flick. One of those ones where, at the end, you think, "Yeah, I liked that alright," but then the more you think about it, the more you like it and the more you appreciate how well it was put together.

Definitely recommend this one!
