Can four blades be better than one?

QuickImage Category
Well in this case I would have to say no. My preferred razor is the Gillette Mach3 Turbo, but as I had dulled all my blades it was time to get some replacements, so whilst shopping I saw the new kid on the block, the Schick Quattro, because the Schick is a new razor it had a special offer, so I was able to get the razor and a couple of blades for cheaper than the new Mach3 blades.

This morning, the Schick got it's test drive and I can tell you it's no Audi Quattro. I found the handling heavy and sluggish, and the four blades are not as smooth as three. I think by extending the number of blades to four the distance from the first blade to the last is now too great, giving the razor a feeling that is scraping rather than cutting. Now I admit, I hadn't shaved all weekend, so this wasn't the fairest of tests, but to be honest I grow as much hair in a weekend as most guys grow in an afternoon, so it wasn't really a heavy test. I will be trying it again in the morning to see if it feels any different, but so far as soon as these blades are dull, I'll be switching back to my Mach3.

So is it pronounced Skick or shick?
