Sametime Links Extensions

QuickImage Category
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have been working on extensions for Sametime Links, that provide additional functionality like Rich Text, images and emoticons, as seen in this screenshot, before I release this as a product, I'd like a few people to test it out on their servers. so if you have a Sametime server with Sametime Links already installed, please shoot me an e-mail if you're interested and I can send you the beta install early next week. The ST Links Extensions installs into a different directory to the regular ST Links directory, so will not impact any existing usage of ST Links you may have.

Using the ST Links Extensions has really had a big impact on how much more flexibility it brings to our Instant Agent Framework (IAF) "Sametime bots", the following two bots were built using our regular out of the box IAF tool in combination with the Sametime Links Extensions, weather and Stock chart screenshots. We can easily take our IAF tool and use it to do a directory name lookup and when used with ST Links Extensions, we can even send down the persons picture, I don't know about you, but when I first started doing this I thought it was cool, now I can actually see it's useful!

Gravatar Image1 - I would love this functionality because we were looking for it from the beginning. But with the integrated IM in 6.5 I now face another barrier in getting this deployed. People love that Sametime launches when they start the client, is unobtrusive and is lighter. I know the links are light but where does this fit into client integration ?

Gravatar Image2 - This is really great Carl, and I have told you about my thought about this earlier. I would gladly test it out more.... We need to talk about this at a later stadium as well.

Gravatar Image3 - Hey, this looks like a small step towards what I've been enjoying in NotesBuddy for some time.

Gravatar Image4 - Chris can you imagine, Lotus having a regular Sametime client that support Rich Text! We can only hope that one day these guys start to understand it's value. Until then we at Instant will continue to expand Lotus Instant Messaging where we can. Sadly they don't have any interfaces into the standard ST Connect so we have to build our own.

Gravatar Image5 - I am ready for the Rich Text client interface. I know they merged this technology in, but I imagined that the developers would have at some point gone after that with a passion to compete with other IM products. Even the consumer ones that are now 'enterprise" maintain some of this ability. Lotus loses in that one area for some reason.
