Category

I noticed tonight that gone is the small IBM logo in the top right and it's changed to:

Gravatar Image1 - The URL is still IBM.

Gravatar Image2 - Well the URL above is now redirected to:

eBay is Java' Powered
Running on powerful Sun
Solaris' SPARC' servers
Supported by Sun services and solutions

eBay has chosen Sun's Solaris Operating System, the most advanced operating system on the planet and its Solaris servers and Java software to help power The World's Online Marketplace. If you're running a business like eBay's, or have similar aspirations, get some Sun.

Gravatar Image3 - According to The Register, eBay auctions off the "powered by" slot to the highest bidder amongst their various technology vendors.

Gravatar Image4 - That would make Sun the current john & IBM the former john to an eBay street whore. Doesn't matter because I heard Sam Palmisano likes to take a walk on the wild side when visiting big cities and he doesn't need Meg now or her eBay.

Gravatar Image5 - You "assume" that Sun was the highest bidder. You know what they say about assuming. ...

Sun and eBay have the most synergistic corporate visions and Sun's technologies actually provide the best price performance to eBay, making the overall climate of the partneship well aligned.

eBay "is" powered by Java and Sun technologies.
