Assistance debugging Sametime server issues

Category

Often when you're trying to figure out why a Sametime server isn't doing something it's supposed to , you end up opening various txt files, the Sametime.log and some txt trace file.  The problem is, to see updates in these files you keep having to reopen them.

This is where a utility with it's ancestry in UNIX comes in handy, the utility Tail will let you specify a number of files that you want to watch, and then give you a live view of the text file as it updates, a bit like watching a live console.  This is a must have for anyone that ever wants to watch log files updating realtime.

Gravatar Image1 - Textpad also prompts you when the file has changed whilst you have it open. Also good for log files. You can also download "Document Class" files to colour code syntax in the files - there is even a few LotusScript ones.
