Flying medicals extended to 5 years from 3
Category Flying Medical
I'm sure this doesn't really impact most of the people that read this blog. But if you're a pilot, we can now go for a lot less medicals. If you had your most recent Class III medical when you were under 40 then your Medical is now valid for 5 years instead of the original 3. This means I don't need to see the doctor again with regards to flying until 2011, as my last medical was in 2006 and I'm still under 40, sweet. I still have to do my biennial checkride in September, I better get revising.
If you are interested, get a more detailed explanation of the changes at the AOPA website: http://www.aopa.org/flightplanning/articles/2008/080723medical.html
