Sharp introduces the Internet to it's TVs

Category

Sharp puts Internet, sort of, on its TVs  The amazing thing about this is that it's considered "new" over here in the US.  In Europe, information like this has been availble through televisions sets, over regular terrestrial broadcasts since the early 70s through Teletext.  I believe the internet took a little while longer to get going in Europe because of teletext, why? Well all those things the internet was good for early on, getting the latest news, checking the weather, checking a flights time, finding a cheap holiday etc. were all available through a TVs regular remote control.

Sharps implementation is much more powerful than Teletext, but the basics concept of seeing news, weather etc. on the TV are the same.
