A surprise

Category
Well I've been using the new phone for about a week now and my biggest surprise has been how well it's email, calendar, todo's etc. have worked. Without installing anything on the phone or on my desktop the phone has just been syncing email, calendar etc. from a hosted Exchange account. No need to pay money for some other solution, no need to spend time setting it up, it just worked. my phone notifies at pretty much the same time as the client. I haven't even installed an Outlook client, this has all be done with Outlook Web Access.

Sure it's a MS OS on the phone and MS Email on the MS Server, but that's why I think SMBs like Microsoft, their stuff does tend to work together without too much hassle, and if you don't want the hassle of running it yourself, there are what appear to be hundreds of Exchange hosting companies out there willing to do it for you.

Also looking around, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to Exchange hosting options, Domino email hosting for a SSB (super small business) is a different matter. I can come up with about 5 domino hosting companies out there. Why is that, because the product isn't suited to it or because of licensing?

I know I know, Notes/Domino is really aimed at the Enterprise market, but as the saying from tiny acorns come great big trees, and I personally think packaged right Domino is the perfect solution for SSBs. Domino really can offer a solution that allows SSBs to run their business with a single server.

You're one of the lucky ones - you get to choose all of our own software and services !

Sorry we missed you in Dublin...

For SSBs, have you looked at the Nitix server with Domino solutions? Both this: http://www.nitix.com/products/domino/index.php
and the "Nitix Blue" offering also on the site are built on Domino. Very cool stuff.
