I left Denmark yesterday, for Switzerland. A few interesting things.
Wifi is really becoming pervasive in most European airports, and that's pretty cool. In paris, it's still free, in Copenhagen it was 10Euros/2hours.
browsing tru the gift shop at the airport, once can find hard core XXX DVDs. Even in liberal Amsterdam I had never seen such a thing. Pretty wild.
I flew biz class from Copenhagen to Geneva on SAS. It had been a long time since I had flown a Super 80, and I must say it's a nice plane. Specially if you are sitting up front. Unlike Airbus 32x or B 73x, the Reactors are not located under the wings, but at the back. It makes for a very quiet and smooth ride.
In flight service was pretty standard, with one notable exception. They actually use proper silverware, including real knives. I wish the other airlines would take a hint from SAS, and stop that post sept 11th BS. I mean when I (or IBM) pays several thousands of Euros to fly me somewhere, I feel entlighted to having proper silverware.
Once in Geneva I was pretty disappointed with Hertz. Ever since I joined the President circle crowd, I have always been given generous upgrades (Volvo S60 in Paris, BMW 320 Cabrio in Germany, etc....) I was disappointed to get upgraded from a C category to Mercedes A class. the A class barely an upgrade when compared to an Opel Astra (the type of car my employer typically pays for).
In any case Geneva is still my favorite city on the Planet. I was very happy to catch up with my friends, enjoy a cup of coffee on a Terasse with a nice view of the Mount Blanc. (mental note to myself, find a way to relocate to Geneva).
Tomorrow I'm leaving on a early morning flight to Paris, I will be home for two days, before taking off for my next adventure. More updates on this blog shortly.....
