This Weblog has been highjacked !!!

While Karl is away I will have the pleasure to post my random/disorganized thought's to this weblog. Since when a CTO working for hot pre IPO startup actually goes on vacation ? I'm starting to wonder if Carl is ready to leave life in the fastlane and join the public sector in my home country (France). So I will ask by asking advice for the techno geeks reading this column. I'm considering purchasing the 157 Euros (180US$) Linksys Digital Wifi Media adapter.

The idea being that most of the media I deal with is digital, and is stored on the 60Gig HD found in my trustworthy thinkpad. But the place I really need to consume this content is my living room, so here come the linksys Media adapter, and I should be able to stream MP3's, and get to my digital pics using my wifi home network. Has anyone implemented such a system ? any feedback ?

Gravatar Image1 - I haven't bought one (yet) but you may want to consider the new Netgear router. For $200 US, they have 108 Mbps wireless. You'll need to buy a PCMCIA 802.11g card from them to get this speed but it will also work with 802.11b if your stinkpad already has wireless.

Gravatar Image2 - Disregard the post. At first I thought it was a wireless router then I re-read the message and realized that it was much cooler than that.

If you buy one I'd love to know if it works as billed and if 802.11b has sufficient bandwidth.
