An important day in aviation history

Category
In 1903, the Wright brothers made their first powered flight at Kill Devil Hillin North Carolina (some argue this wasn't the first powered flight) but the Wright brothers did build a wind tunnel and did some amazing tests and mathematics to eventually have their craft.

The other aviation event was 75 years ago when the first flight of the Douglas DC-3 took place.  I've walked in one of these, but never flown in one, flying in, or flying one is definitely on my bucket list.

Gravatar Image1 - Carl, there is a place in Atlanta where you can fly one, even get your type rating...{ Link }

Gravatar Image2 - @1 I think I should get my IFR first though, I think that is my 2011 goal.

DC-3 after that :)

Gravatar Image3 - Carl, I had the opportunity to fly on a DC-3 while I was in the Navy. Only once, but it was something. Real cold and real noisy. Still, a great experience. Cheers

Gravatar Image4 - @3 You see my face Pete? That's envy that is.

Gravatar Image5 - Mate,

After LS08 I did a road-trip up the eastern sea board, spent ages sitting on the rail at the bottom of the hill { Link } thinking what it would have been like on that morning for the first take-off.

WHEN you come to Aus, Melbourne is a must-visit, Saturday nights a DC-3 does a dinner-flight around the city...

Looking forward to some day helping you scratch one off the bucket list Emoticon
