Did anybody else notice real player ads start popping up?

Category
I've noticed this on a few machines, suddenly the real player updater started showing an ad in the bottom right corner as a toast.

Simple solution, was to disable the notifications in the app, but you know the solution I much prefer, I uninstalled it.  I didn't give you the ability to obtain updates so you could advertise to me, sorry real player, you're gone.

Gravatar Image1 - Dumped RealPlayer years ago when they started taking over every setting on your machine, adding toolbars, and parking itself in your system tray. Same reason I don't use iTunes. There are a million free (and respectful) alternatives.

Gravatar Image2 - RealPlayer is still around?

(always wanted to say that about a piece of software...not sure why)

Gravatar Image3 - Everything's still around. Heck, I know someone who still uses Lotus 1-2-3.

Gravatar Image4 - @3 Heck I know a large multi billion dollar company that still sells 1-2-3 Emoticon

Gravatar Image5 - Ahh, Real Player. I still use it because Australia's national broadcaster (the ABC) only offers internet radio via proprietary Windows Media or (proprietary) RealAudio. Given a choice between two proprietary formats, I go for the underdog. Which meant that, as Carl mentioned, on my (last remaining) Windows PC, it recently started launching unrequested advertising popups. Thanks for the tip that it can be turned off... until I read your post I feared that I had accidentally been upgraded to the "complete" RealPlayer, which comes with a lot of extra baggage.
