More att amazingness

I'm considering changing my current att phone to a new shiny iphone 3GS but I can't believe the way att is fleecing people.  Is this really correct, to continue getting an itemised bill the way I get now, att want customers to pay $1.99 a month?  So in order to question any calls that are claimed by att, but weren't actually made by me, I have to pay them $1.99 a month to be able to check?  Currently I don't even bother with paper bills, if I continue doing that does anyone know if online you can still see itemised calls without paying att additional money?

AT&T Charge
for detailed billing?

Gravatar Image1 - I've got AT&T Wireless (not for iPhone, though), and can see my full bill online without paying for it (unless they included that "feature" in my rate plan, but I don't think they did.

Gravatar Image2 - @1 Yeah I also have an ATT wireless phone and can see the entire bill, but it's not an iPhone so I wonder if this is something new, or just for fleecing iPhone customers?

Gravatar Image3 - I've got the 3G, with a family plan, 2 phones (both 3Gs), text messaging, iPhone data plane, etc, and there is a line that says "Direct Bill Detail", but its included in the plan, not an extra charge ... Contract is just under a year old, so it might be a new "feature"

Gravatar Image4 - the "charge for details" seems to be a growing trend. In Virginia, your EasyPass / FastLane / etc has the same catch - you sign up with direct pay for your tolls but you have to pay extra to verify that you are charged for your real usage.
