Lost your dog? Use the internet to find it.

Category
On Tuesday I met up with an old friend.  They were telling me about an experience they had where their dog had wondered off from the house and had disappeared, this is bad enough for most pet owners, but what made matters more distressing for the owner, was they had recently been brushing the dog and had removed it's collar, so the dog had no identification and wasn't chipped.  The usual panic followed and posters were stuck on trees and lamp posts etc.

Then she found a website called FindToto.com.  Find Toto is a website, where you can go on-line  in punch in some details about your dog, some about yourself and then the system does a blanket call to the telephone numbers in your area.

The great news for my friend was this service worked, within an hour they had a call form someone telling where they had seen their dog, who had found it etc.  According to the Find Toto service they're operating at a 76% success rate for the last 120 days. The service sounds like a great use for Robo calling.

If you want to avoid this kind of thing yourself, then one thing to do is get your dog chipped and there are even options now where you can fit the dog with a GPS.  Jessie is chipped for her international travel trips, as for the GPS, I still can't get her to go more than 3 feet away from the back door when I leave her out there for hours, plus she's a chicken, chipmunks, squirrels, mice, I think Jessie thinks they're all Labrador killers.
