Zimbra adds 11 million new paid users in 7 months

Category

This is pretty impressive growth for Zimbra, 11 million new paid users in 7 months, which brings their total now to 20 million paid users.  One of the things I have always found most interest about Zimbra is their Zimlets, which allow developers to easily integrate Zimbra mail with third party solutions.  Interestingly, it looks like Zimbra has been picking up these seats not from enterprises but from the SMB market space an area traditionally very popular with Microsoft.

Gravatar Image1 - There's a 'breaking news' announcement from yesterday on their website to say that they now have "Zimbra paid mailboxes - 41 million and counting":

With those kind of numbers, one has to wonder how many paid mailboxes Lotus Notes now has. Is Zimbra now the 2nd player in the market behind Exchange/Outlook? (That's rhetorical - I know better than to expect to see an honest answer to that question any time soon!)

And it's a relief, certainly, that the Microhoo deal fell apart { Link }
