Macbook Pro

Category

We just ordered a Macbook, I will admit that I am as familiar with OSX as I am with Linux, in other words, not very.  I ordered 4Gb of Memory and a large hard drive, so that should be enough to install VMware on the box too.  One thing that wasn't clear on the buy now page, that I'm sure someone can answer, does it come with iLife? I'd really like to play with GarageBand, on the purchase page there was an option to buy iWork but not iLife.  Not exactly the cheapest hardware out there, but this will allow us to do some testing of various things on the Mac platform.

Gravatar Image1 - All mac's come with iLife preinstalled Emoticon

Gravatar Image2 - Yes, both of ours came with iLife.

Gravatar Image3 - At a tangent but hopefully helpful: I run VMWare Fusion on my MBP. For day to day Windows (notes admin & designer), my XP VM is on the same drive with 1 cpu and 1GB dedicated to it. For other VMs, I use an external drive since it can bog you down i/o wise. For backup, I use SuperDuper (paid $29) as it will clone your live drive to an external and allow you to boot from the external if a disaster occurs. I would suggest you get an external drive the size of your internal drive plus the size of all the VMs you want to keep handy.
