Gravatar Image2 - I meet a guy an arizona, circa 2000, that was trying to do this. His wing was quite a bit smaller, didn't fold, and housed just 2 engines, each in it's own nacelle embedded in engine, Gloster Meteor style.

I believe it all went titsup during towed trials where he lost stability, cut the wing away and it broke after failing to deploy the recovery parachute.

I never heard anything more about him, but it's really cool to see someone else trying it. Fun, Jump Jump Jump Jump!!
