Enabling the higher quality audio in Sametime 8.0.1 Web Meetings

The Sametime web audio in Sametime 8.0.1 is significantly improved, you need to be aware of a few things though.
1. Your Sametime Administrator needs to enable it, by default Sametime will be using the old audio, which as far as I know, no one can really bare to use anyway. So to enable the GIPS iSAC codec be sure to do the following:
5. In the "Type of Connection Speed Setting to use for the default in scheduled and instant meetings" option select GIPS iSAC
6. Save your changes.
7. Restart the Sametime Server.
2. Make sure you opened those 1000s of UDP ports for Sametime Audio/Video (If you use Windows Firewall I'll post a note after this one on how you can add them all to windows firewall, as it doesnt' support port ranges)

Once you're in a Sametime meeting and using the GIPS codec, if you go into the file preferences, audio, don't worry that the UI says something like cannot detect talking, it appears to be a stupid UI left over from the other codecs. They should have removed it if it's using the GIPS codec, but I guess they didn't have time.

1. From the Sametime server home page, click the "Administer the Server" link to open the Sametime Administration Tool (it's now on the right hand side)
2. Select Configuration.
3. Select Audio/Video.
4. Select the Connection Speed Settings tab

6. Save your changes.
