Screensharing with no download?

Category

Recently I've been doing some testing of different screensharing systems, and comparing their responsiveness, how many frames are dropped that kind of thing.  No real reason for doing this apart from I want to know how they compare, so that if someone asks I can tell them  So doing this evaluation I've come across various sites that make the claim "No downloads required", which as Ray Magliozzi from CarTalk  would say, is Bohhhhuhuhgus!

So here's an example, Livelook

They even make the claim on this page all you need is a browser.

So the first time you go to the web page to start a share, what do you see? This

I'm sorry but that's a download to me.  It's the very thing that has caused countless hours of wasted productivity for hundreds of sametime users over the years, it's a downloadable Java applet, no browser has access at a low enough level to get information about what your screen is showing, so to do this, they all need something to be installed (downloaded), so STOP making false claims.

So I've heard IBMers make the claim for Sametime Unyte, and the Unyte page also makes the same claim on the home page:

To their credit when you click more details, the Sametime Unyte site does say "Participants are able to join your session with just one click - no downloads!"  and doesn't make the same claim for presenters which Livelook does.
