Even porn can't save it.

Yes it really is official, HD-DVD really is dead, so now you can go out and buy yourself a shiny PlayStation3, which is not only a great Blu-ray player (which keeps getting software updates to support the later Blu-ray formats such as picture in picture), but also makes a great media player, Linux box oh and it plays games too.  Yep, Toshiba has announced it will be stopping the manufacture of HD-DVD players.  http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/GadgetGuide/wireStory?id=4309219

The fact that Blu-ray won is a big surprise to many people.  Most people believer that HD-DVD would win because, as some people have said, whichever format porn goes with, is the format that will win.  Well porn (so I heard) was firmly in the HD-DVD camp yet it still lost.  Could it be that people are now more reliant on the web for porn delivery than "traditional" media channels?

I wonder how many corporate firewalls will block this post because of the usage of the word porn.

Gravatar Image1 - The only reason Blue-ray won is because I didn't buy a player. Guaranteed if I'd gone Blue-ray, Blue-ray would've gone titsup.

Just as well I sat on the fence for this fight.
