Have plenty of memory and want to speed up Sametime 7.5.1

Category

If you have plenty of memory on your machine, lets say a gig or more, then you can turn back on the Java Just In Time compiler for Sametime.  You do this by removing the line -Xint from the Sametime.ini which can be found in your \Program Files\IBM\Sametime Connect directory.  If you don't have a gig of memory then don't touch it

By removing this line, your are telling the J9 compiler to run it's JIT, so the code wil no longer run in interpreted mode only but will run compiled code.

Gravatar Image1 - Does this trick hold true for Sametime 8.0 ?

Gravatar Image2 - Wow, it works. But just be sure to edit the file with Wordpad or some other editor that will preserve the structure of the file.

Gravatar Image3 - Note that in linux, the file where I found this parameter is 'eclipse.ini', under $HOME/.sametime-base

Great find!

Gravatar Image4 - For 8.0 the JIT is on by default. So if you're low on RAM you might want to turn it off.

Gravatar Image5 - wonderful suggestion. Made a huge difference.Emoticon

Gravatar Image6 - Great!!!! Much more responsive. Many thanks for the tip....

All we need now is to restart the development for the Trillian/Sametime Plugin for Trillian Astra. So that I can go back to using that instead for my Sametime colleagues ......Emoticon Emoticon Emoticon
