Sametime Links

Category

I just noticed none of the Lotusphere sessions mention Sametime Links.  A huge oversight I believe on one of the most undervalued toolkits in Sametime.  I hope this isn't some kind of omen for the future of ST Links.

Gravatar Image1 - ST Links and other toolkits are very much alive and well (with an eye towards future enhancements), and at a minimum will be covered in JMP208 - Leveraging the IBM Lotus Sametime Platform ({ Link } )

Gravatar Image2 - @1 Thanks Adam.

Any insight on the COM and C++ toolkits and Java toolkits are they going to be enhanced? Any plans for an AJAX ST Links?

A toolkit roadmap would be a great help for 3rd party developers to get an idea of where IBM is heading.

Gravatar Image3 - Until stlinks is re-implemented as pure javascript/ajax/dhtml, it's not going to fly. I went to the trouble of building and testing the functionality on a public facing website, but the annoyance factor with the signed applets and so on was just too high for users.

Gravatar Image4 - @3 I think for public facing sites you're right. However I know some really large companies that use it within their intranet pages, DWA, Quickr etc. It works well for them, but they are controlled desktops.

I think it might be time for me to investigate an AJAX client interface for STLinks.

Gravatar Image5 - An update to ST Links would be highly appreciated. The current java version does not really allow a public rollout without lots of pain...
