Do you use Acronis? Do you use VMware?

Category

If you do, then there's good news.  VMware Converter can now take Acronis backups and make them into VMware images.  Be forewarned though, it takes a long time.  I recovered an 80Gb image yesterday of my desktop to see how long it would take.  I started it at 9 in the morning and it finished at about 10PM.  Having said that though, it did work and I was able to boot my old desktop into a VMware.

Gravatar Image1 - I have used Acronis but am quickly migrating over to PartImage. I was not aware that VMWare Converter could take an Acronis image but I know there have been lots of people booting an empty VM image with Acronis and do the restore from there. This "manual" method is pretty quick but does not clean up the original hardware drivers like VMWare converter - not a big deal is you have Acronis with Universal restore.
